Have you ever dreamed of moving an object with the power of your mind? Well Mattel’s Mindflex just makes that dream a reality now. You just need to put on a special headset and you’ll be ready to control the action as you never have before – with the power of your mind. By utilizing NeuroSky’s advanced ThinkGear technology, Mindflex reads your brainwave activity with the help of the wireless headset and translates that into action inside the game. The objective you have inside the Mindflex game sounds quite simple, you must navigate the ball through a mind-bending obstacle course as quickly as you can – traveling up and down, but you need to do that by using the power of your thoughts. You can customize the course with nine interchangeable obstacles making it possible to get hundreds of obstacle combinations so will never get boring to play.

But how does this all work? Whenever you concentrate, you generate brainwave activity in your frontal lobes and Mindflex uses a variation of EEG technology to “read” the intensity of these brainwaves via a special sensors positioned on your forehead and ears (inside the headset). These sensors do not generate or interfere with brainwaves, they only read what is already there, so you can be rest assured if you have some worries about possible negative effect. Once the Mindflex headset recognizes your brainwaves, it transmits a signal to a fan within the base of the game and your brainwaves actually control the power of the fan which in turn levitates the ball. The more effectively you concentrate, the stronger the fan blows and the higher the ball floats and by relaxing your mind the fan lowers the airflow, which in turn lowers the ball. Sounds fun and it really is, especially for kids, but is also quite entertaining for adults too.

Meet the new I-Dog Soft Speaker – the snuggly, squeezable pooch that loves to get down to your music. After the big success that was the first plastic version of the I-Dog speakers and the later smaller mini versions now we also have a new plush model…

The new I-Dog soft speaker version is available in white, blue or pink so you can pick the one that best suit your taste or even have them all if you want to. The new I-Dog basically has the same functionality as the previous model meaning you can either plug your MP3 player, cell phone or any other device that outputs music or audio directly in the dog. Remote Controlled WowWee Rovio Robot

That thing is an affordable remote controlled robot, no way! WowWee’s new robot toy named Rovio just looks amazing at least on pictures, it is almost like something that just came out form NASA and is designed to explore the space and unknown planets. Actually we are talking about a remote controlled robot designed for patrolling your home while you are gone. The robot has some degree of autonomy, but is designed more in a way to be controller by a human. WowWee Rovio comes equipped with a WiFi connection which allows you control it from anywhere in the world given that you have a web capable mobile phone or a computer with internet connection.

The robot has a built-in web camera that provides high-resolution (640×480 pixels) video along with a microphone and speakers allowing voice interaction with the robot, for instance with your kids at home, while you are away on a business trip for instance. Rovio has a built-in rechargeable battery that allows for about two hours usage and then the robot can find it’s recharging station and go recharge automatically to be ready for more action. There are three wheels supporting the chassis, providing 360 degrees of movement movement freedom, allowing the robot go go almost anywhere around your home, surveying it’s surroundings. You can configure the robot with up to 10 paths for a customized patrol, it will move along each path, detecting and avoiding obstacles with it’s infrared sensor, and repeat the sequence until you give new orders. There are probably even more interesting things about the cool Rovio robot, but we should wait a bit more, until it is made officially available…

Pleo – The Realistic Robot Dinosaur

Pleo is an autonomous robotic life form modeled on a one-week-old Camarasaurus dinosaur. The cute-looking robot is designed to mimic life which means Pleo thinks and acts independently, just like a real animal would do. In general, it looks, moves, and behaves in ways that would almost make you think it is actually alive. Specifically, Pleo has organic body language, exhibits evolving emotions, is aware of his surroundings and has recognizable behaviors that change over time. At the heart of Pleo is Life OS, the operating system software that enables Pleo to act independently and will evolve Pleo’s personality according to his interactions with you and the environment.

The robot-toy progresses through three different Life Stages. When first awakened, Pleo is a hatchling. As you interact together, Pleo transitions through an infant stage to become a juvenile dinosaur. Then the fun really starts! Camarasaurus (KAM-ah-rah-sawr-us) means “Chambered Lizard” (Greek kamara = chamber and sauros = lizard), referring to the holes in its vertebrae. Camarasaurus is the best-known sauropod found in North America and the most abundant of fossils from the Late Jurassic period. Camarasaurus also lived in Europe, where it survived into Early Cretaceous times. A complete, nearly perfect skeleton of a juvenile, 17 foot (5.2 meters) long, was found in Utah. Its head was short and box-like with nostrils set above the snout and in front of the eyes. The weight of its backbone was lightened by holes in its vertebrae. Its neck was shorter and thicker than most sauropods, and it possessed a short and somewhat flattened tail. The forelimbs and hind legs of Camarasaurus were about the same length.

Of course the best thing you can expect from an electronic toy is to have a power on/off button, unlike a real pet. Pleo uses a Ni-Mh rechargeable battery that can last for about an hour or 1:20 hours of play time with a single charge. There is also an SD flash card reader and mini USB connection so that you can program the dinosaur (with additional software) or update the built-in OS, when updates are available. Another crazy Japanese product, a USB dog that is humping your laptop. And that’s it, they do nothing more and don’t serve any actual purpose, the USB Humping dogs are just some fun toys that can entertain you and your friends for a while. They also work as a great idea for a gift and are quite original too. Be aware that a Humping Dog is not a USB flash drive although it looks like one and plugs in a USB port. Currently there are five types of dogs you can choose from – boxer, beagle, husky, doberman and shiba.

Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo Toy

When you first take him out of his box, T.M.X. Elmo from Fisher-Price doesn’t seem all that grand. He looks after all, well, like Elmo. Covered in the soft red fur that one would expect from everyone’s favorite Sesame Street character, T.M.X. Elmo stands an unimposing 14 inches tall. Even worse, he feels all hard and plasticy under his fur. But this Elmo is not meant for cuddles or hand holding or swaddling.

Sit T.M.X. Elmo down and hit one of his three “tickle” spots. There’s one under his chin, one on his belly, and one on top of his foot. Yes, this Elmo wiggles just like he did 10 years ago, but that’s just the start. Elmo slaps his belly, falls forward with his butt sticking out, stands back up again only to topple backwards, kicks his legs over his belly, and then stands right back up, all while laughing hysterically.

Elmo gets more outrageous when you “tickle” him a second time, and the fun really starts with the third “tickle” session. Elmo’s fancy moves include falling over on his side, shimmying on his back, and what seems to be everyone’s favorite: lying flat on his belly slapping the floor next to him as if he can’t stop laughing. This Elmo has a serious case of the giggles. His trademark voice builds into a fit of histrionics, endless snickers that drown out everything but an unintelligible cackle until even Elmo admits he has had too much.

T.M.X Elmo requires 6 AA batteries, which are included, although these wore down quickly in our review copy. Elmo also has an on/off switch, so the tickles can be brought to an end when more than just Elmo has had too much. He moves a lot and needs a little open space for the full performance, although he does use his arm to determine his orientation periodically and stand back up if nothing is in the way. He gets a little stuck on uneven surfaces but for the most part performs amazingly well on carpet. On hardwood floors, Elmo works, but he occasionally slams his eyes on the floor in a way that seems it should halt the show.
