How about adding the cool feature of controlling the motion in-game with the physical movement of your Sony PSP console, just like you can do it with games for most modern smartphones such as the iPhone for example? You can now add such a feature on Sony’s PlayStation portable consoles with the help of an additional accessory called the TiltFX Motion Control and the best of all is that the controller already works with most of the popular games for the PSP. TiltFX delivers real ‘Tilt’ control using the 3D movement of your PSP thanks to the TiltFX G-sensor tat features a 3 axis, high resolution MEMS accelerometer and powerful microprocessor that are designed to detect the motion of you PSP as you move it and thus creating a revolutionary way to play your PSP games…

Take your games to the next level with the latest motion sensing control. TiltFX works with all games by replacing the Direction controls with High Resolution ‘Tilt’ control so now the 3D movements of your PSP actually control the game. The TilfFX accessory is compatible only with the PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 series of consoles and it needs to be plugged in into the accessory connection at the bottom left part of the portable console. If you have a first generation PSP Fat console (PSP-1000 series), then you are not out of luck however as there is a different version especially for that console, but if you have the latest PSP Go, then unfortunately you are out of luck with this accessory. The TiltFX controller is especially great for racing games as with them the PSP console itself becomes the wheel you are rotating to drive the virtual car in the game, something that you should really try.

TiltFX Motion Control is available with a price of $19.99 USD.

The Sony PRS-500 Reader is a portable e-book reader featuring 6″ high-resolution, high-contrast display with 180?° viewing angles. The screen of the device is actually an electronic paper display developed by E Ink Corporation, that has 166 dpi resolution and capable of showing four levels of grayscale. The display is viewable in direct sunlight and the best of all is it doesn’t require power to maintain the image so you get an extra long usage time of up to 7500 “page turns” per charge from the built-in lithium-ion battery. The reader has 64 MB integrated memory that is expandable by additional flash card, you can access the memory by connecting the device to your PC trough a standard USB connector. The PRS-500 is very compact with it measurements of 17.5 x 12.4 x 1.3 cm and weight of only about 250 grams.

The PRS-500 can display books in the following formats: BBeB books (BroadBand eBook), Adobe PDF files, TXT, RTF and Microsoft Word text formats. The device also supports graphic files in JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP image formats, but don’t expect too much considering only 4 levels of gray are supported by screen. And of course you’ll be able to play music stored in MP3 or AAC audio formats.

The Sony Portable Reader System is available for $349.99.

The new DSC-N2 digital camera features three-inch touch-screen display and built-in slide show capability. The extra-large 3″ screen with intuitive menu options allow for less physical buttons on the camera body, resulting in a sleeker design. They display also incorporate Sony’s Clear Photo Plus LCD technology for higher resolution (230K), higher contrast and optimal viewing from various angles.

The elegant DSC-N2 camera debuts in champagne gold and is a ten-megapixel powerhouse with an extending Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3x optical zoom lens. With its built-in photo album function, this model can be a photo diary in your pocket, loaded with up to 500 of your favorite images.

Every time you snap a picture, the DSC-N2 model will store a full-resolution image on the optional media card or in the camera’s 25 MB of internal memory. Additionally, it automatically resizes that same image in VGA resolution and stores it in a portion of the camera’s internal memory dedicated to pocket album. No matter how many pictures are offloaded from the media card, you can choose to protect the images you want to keep and, over time, you have a collection of your favorite shots in the camera.

The CCD sensor of the camera incorporate high light sensitivity up to IS0 1600 to facilitate shooting without blur at faster shutter speeds – a necessity when capturing fast-moving subjects or taking photos in low-light environments.

The DSC-N2 should hit the stores in October with a price of about $450.

Sony Electronics has started shipping 50GB dual layer Blu-ray Disc recordable (write-once) media with AccuCORE technology. Sony’s AccuCORE technology has been re-engineered for Blu-ray Disc media, with its major benefits including scratch guard, archival reliability to prevent data/image corruption and deterioration, stable writing that reduces fluctuation as the disc spins, and temperature durability to prevent warping during severe changes in temperature and humidity. The 50GB capacity of these Blu-Ray discs alows recording more than four hours of HD quality video, at a 24 Mbps transfer rate.

Sony also confirmed that it plans to start shipping 50GB dual layer rewritable BD media later this year.

Sony’s 50GB dual layer recordable disc has a suggested retail price of around $48.

Sony is launching its first WiFi broadband communication and entertainment device to capitalize on the growth of wireless Internet access. The new mylo personal communicator is capable of operating in any open 802.11b (11 Mbps) wireless network, often found on college campuses, in public spaces and within private homes around the country.

This product is designed for people who use instant messaging as a primary form of communication and networking for their social life. The name mylo stands for “my life online” and the communicator lets you use instant messaging, browse the Internet, listen to music, send emails and view photos concurrently.

Small enough for a pocket or purse, the slim, oblong-shaped device features a 2.4 inch color LCD (measured diagonally) with a slide out QWERTY keyboard for comfortable and quick thumb typing.

The device, available in black or white, comes embedded with popular instant messaging services: the Google Talk instant messaging service, Skype and Yahoo! Messenger. These services are free and the product does not require initial computer setup or a monthly service contract!

While you chat or browse the Internet, the 1GB of the flash memory on the mylo personal communicator lets you enjoy your music too. It supports the playback of MP3, ATRAC or WMA (secure and unsecure) files. The mylo communicator has a built-in speaker for listening to music so you can share your music with those around you. You can also view MPEG-4 personal videos by transferring files via USB cable or with Memory Stick Duo media. You can also store JPEG pictures from the Internet or your digital camera.

Providing networking possibilities without a wireless network, the mylo personal communicator detects when it comes into the presence of other mylo units. With the ad-hoc application, you can share play lists and stream music between mylo communicators one at a time.

To support all of this functionality, the mylo device uses a lithium-ion battery that offers up to 45 hours of music playback, around seven hours of chatting and web surfing and more than three hours of continuous Skype talk time. It comes with a microphone, stereo headphones, a USB cable and a neoprene case.

The mylo personal communicator will be available in September with a price of about $350.

Sony Electronics announced a compact and lightweight, 12-channel GPS device for use in conjunction with their digital cameras. Using time and location recordings from Sony’s GPS-CS1 GPS device and the time stamp from a Sony digital still camera or camcorder you can plot the digital images to a map and pinpoint exactly where they’ve been taken.

To arrange your pictures geographically, you need to import the logged data from the GPS device, using the supplied USB cable, and then download the digital images to a computer. The supplied GPS Image Tracker software synchronizes the images on your digital camera with the latitude, longitude and time readings from the GPS-CS1 device.

Once synchronized, your photos can become virtual push pins on an online map by activating the Picture Motion Browser software bundled with the latest Sony cameras and camcorders released after July. You can easily add new photos and coordinates to the mapping web site, courtesy of Google Maps, and showcase years of globe-trotting.

If you have thought that Sony VAIO UX180P Micro PC is an interesting and cool PC, wait until you see the new Sony VAIO UX90 (VGN-UX90PS/UX90S) that comes with solid-state hard drive instead of a mobile hard drive. There is also mobile digital television support (DVB-T) built in the new model…

The VAIO UX90S comes with a 16GB flash-solid state disk (Flash-SSD) instead of the traditional mobile 30GB hard drive used in the previous model. The Flash-SSD allows the system to respond a few times faster than the VAIO UX50 (Outlook application load times drop from 9 seconds to 1.5 seconds) while also improving battery life up to 13%. The weight of the unit is just 492g or with 28 grams less than when normal hard drive is being used.

One of the big advantages of using solid-state flash disk is that the shock and vibration resistance of the device is much higher, because there are no moving parts like in traditional hard drives. Or with other words you don’t need to be extra careful when using the device on the go…

Sony VAIO VGN-UX90PS / VGN-UX90 Specifications
Operating System: Windows XP Professional / Windows XP Home Edition
Processor: Core Solo U1400 (1.20GHz) / Core Solo U1300 (1.06GHz)
Main memory: 512 MB
Storage unit: 16GB flash-solid state disk
Display: 4.5″ WSVGA (1024×600) with XBRITE technology
Power consumption: 20W
Battery: Approximately 4 hours / approximately 2.5 hours
Weight: 492 grams

Sony has set a 209,800 yen price tag ($1,800 USD) and July 3 launch date for the new VAIO UX90 in Japan – nothing yet about the pricing or availability in other countries.
