Safety comes first, especially when you take out your expensive DSLR camera for a spin. You already know that the world is a rough place for cameras, with all sorts of jagged nasties waiting to take their toll on your beautifully finished pride and joy. And the solution to that problem is Camera Armor – a close fitting stay-on glove for your Digital SLR. A solution that will definitely help you to add additional protection to your expensive photo equipment, especially when you take photos in an unfriendly environment, without needing to pay too much for it.

Each Camera Armor model is made from shock absorbing, flexible silicon-rubber, with each set designed to fit your digital SLR model like a glove. This ensures the best possible fit and protection while continuing to allow full access to all buttons, cable ports, and battery/memory compartments. The unique thing about Camera Armor is the fact that it protects your camera wherever you go, regardless of what you are doing. You put it on, and leave it on, so no matter what bumps life throws at you, your camera is protected.

Camera Armor products come with the “Body Armor”; an LCD shield made from polycarbonate that protects the screen from impact and abrasion; and the Lens Armor, a rugged protective ring that stretches to fit most common lenses. The Lens armor doubles as a sun hood, and can be rolled out of the way for wide angle shot. It even comes with a handy lens cap leash that attaches your lens cap to the lens armor with a silicone tab.

Currently there are Camera Armor kits designed specially for 10 digital SLR cameras: Canon EOS 30D, Canon Digital Rebel XTi (400D), Canon EOS 5D, Nikon D70/D70s, Nikon D80, Nikon D200, Nikon D40, Sony Alpha A100, Canon Mark II Series 1DN & 1DS and Fuji FinePix S5. The price for a complete Camera Armor kit is between $49.95 and $79.95, depending on the model.

Incorporating the PENTAX-developed Sliding Lens System and an impressive 3.0 inch, high-definition LCD monitor, the Optio T20 is the thinnest digital camera in this class. Featuring 7.0 megapixels and a 3X zoom, the latest model in the PENTAX T series allows users to select and confirm functions directly on the LCD monitor with just a touch or with a stylus. The 3.0 inch display allows users to easily view and decorate images with drawings, stamps, picture frames and more. With the 3.0 inch touch-display, the Optio T20 allows users to simply touch, shoot and enjoy.

The Optio T20 hosts a large 3.0 inch LCD monitor with 230,000 pixels for exceptional clarity and definition for reviewing images and menu text. With a wide viewing field, the screen remains easy-to-see when viewed from an angle or straight on. This is helpful when monitoring shots at low or high angles or when displaying images in a group setting. With a slim body only 0.77 inch thick (19.5mm), the Optio T20 is the thinnest in this digital camera class.

The Optio T20’s touch display allows users to select and confirm functions by directly touching the LCD monitor. Easy operation of the screen allows users to access icons from the displayed menu with a simple touch. The Optio T20 comes with the My Drawing mode, which lets users customize their shots. With the enclosed stylus pen, users may create original pictures by writing directly on the image shown on the monitor or adding a stored illustration with the Stamp function. The camera also offers a function for storing favorite photos as original stamps to add to other images.

The Optio T20 digital camera will be available for $349.95 in October 2006.

The new DSC-N2 digital camera features three-inch touch-screen display and built-in slide show capability. The extra-large 3″ screen with intuitive menu options allow for less physical buttons on the camera body, resulting in a sleeker design. They display also incorporate Sony’s Clear Photo Plus LCD technology for higher resolution (230K), higher contrast and optimal viewing from various angles.

The elegant DSC-N2 camera debuts in champagne gold and is a ten-megapixel powerhouse with an extending Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3x optical zoom lens. With its built-in photo album function, this model can be a photo diary in your pocket, loaded with up to 500 of your favorite images.

Every time you snap a picture, the DSC-N2 model will store a full-resolution image on the optional media card or in the camera’s 25 MB of internal memory. Additionally, it automatically resizes that same image in VGA resolution and stores it in a portion of the camera’s internal memory dedicated to pocket album. No matter how many pictures are offloaded from the media card, you can choose to protect the images you want to keep and, over time, you have a collection of your favorite shots in the camera.

The CCD sensor of the camera incorporate high light sensitivity up to IS0 1600 to facilitate shooting without blur at faster shutter speeds – a necessity when capturing fast-moving subjects or taking photos in low-light environments.

The DSC-N2 should hit the stores in October with a price of about $450.

Nikon introduced their new D80 digital SLR camera – an impressively featured, high performance camera that incorporates Nikon’s latest digital and photographic technologies, and offers advanced features as well as automated operation to satisfy any photographer with the passion to create beautiful photographs and preserve special moments.

With a new 10.2 effective megapixel DX Format CCD image sensor and an exclusive high-resolution color processing engine inherited from Nikon’s latest professional digital SLR cameras, the D80 can render images with incredible resolution, sharp detail and vibrant color that is unmatched in this class of cameras. And it can shoot these images fast – at speeds of up to 3 frames per second, for up to 100 consecutive shots (in JPEG Normal mode), ensuring that the camera’s always ready for the next fleeting moment.

The D80 works with the efficiency and grace of a fine-tuned instrument, powering up in only 0.18 seconds and capturing a picture with an imperceptible shutter lag time of just 80 milliseconds (0.08 seconds). A new 11-area auto- focus system detects focus with superb precision and can even track a moving subject across the frame, shifting focus instantly and automatically to any of the 11 auto-focus points that detect the subject.

The D80’s large, bright 0.94x viewfinder affords a remarkable view not found in many digital SLRs, making critical composition easier and more pleasing. The camera’s rechargeable battery can last up to 2700 shots on a single charge, while also providing a real-time Fuel Gauge of the percentage of charge remaining in the battery at all times.

The Nikon D80 will be available beginning September 2006 for an estimated selling price of $999.95 for body only and $1299.95** for body and lens outfit, including the new 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S IF-ED DX Nikkor Lens.

The Sanyo VPC-CA6 Xacti Digital Media Camera records both 6 megapixel still images and 640×480 resolution digital video in a weather resistant compact design. It combines the functionality of a digital camera and a digital camcorder. Different than a standard digital camera that shoots short video clips, the VPC-CA6 combines the functionality of both a digital camera and a digital camcorder in one small, lightweight camera. Splash-proof water resistance makes it practical to point and shoot even around the pool or at the beach. It’s also rugged enough to safely take photos or shoot video with wet hands while fishing, hiking, boating, skiing or enjoying many other outdoor leisure activities. While remarkably water resistant, the CA6 should never be immersed in water.

This powerful little device easily records both 640×480 resolution video and 6-megapixel digital still images, all of which are handily stored to a standard SD flash memory card (sold separately). Designed to meet the international protection level IPX4, the VPC-CA6 is ???‚??protected???‚?? from splash in all directions.

2″LED Screen
The CA6 features an incredibly clear 2-inch, Sanyo-developed Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with 210,000 total pixels. The display flips out from the camera and rotates up to 285 degrees on an axis that allows you to take great video or still images from otherwise-difficult-to-view positions.

6.37 megapixel CCD image sensor
Inside the CA6 digital media camera is an advanced 6.37-megapixel (total) CCD image sensor to capture high-quality digital videos (at a very smooth and natural 30 fps!), with full-range stereo sound.

Capture still and High-Definition Movie Images Simultaneously
The Xacti CA6 enables simultaneous shooting of 6-megapixel still images and 640 x 480-pixel video clips with a simple press of the shutter button during the shooting of a movie clip. Users will never need to miss another precious photo opportunity. (Depending on the mode used to take still images, simultaneous video clip shooting may be interrupted. While shooting video clips, using the digital image stabilizer may change the angle of view for still images.)

Built-In Image Stabilization
The SANYO Xacti CA6 comes with a sophisticated image stabilizer. Using a proprietary SANYO algorithm, the CA6 automatically compensates for distracting up-and-down or side-to-side camera movement, keeping your subject steady and easy to follow. It accurately distinguishes between unintentional camera shake and deliberate camera movement. This handy feature operates in both wide-angle and telephoto modes, giving every shot a solid, professional-looking feel.

5x Optical Zoom Lens
The CA6 digital media camera features a highly efficient 5x optical zoom with a bright maximum aperture of f/3.5. Consisting of xx groups and xx total lenses, the CA6???‚?„?s lens provides a fantastic field-of-view with a 38-190 mm range (35 mm equivalent). Combined with the 12x digital zoom, the CA6 provides up to 60x zooming capability.

Super Fast Start-Up
The Xacti CA6 includes a high-capacity SANYO brand lithium-ion battery. The DBL-L20U is a High voltage 3.7V battery designed to work with the SANYO Xacti CA6 camera. High energy density design minimizes the battery size and weight, making it perfect for use in small portable cameras. The DBL-L20 is designed to resist memory accumulation so it provides a full charge every time.

Panasonic today introduced the LUMIX DMC-FZ50, the successor to the critically acclaimed DMC-FZ30, featuring 10.1 megapixels and Panasonic??’s revolutionary Intelligent ISO Control technology which compensates for subject movement to decrease image blurriness – an industry first.

The LUMIX DMC-FZ50 with MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) features a powerful 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 mm to 420 mm on a 35 mm film camera) f/2.8 LEICA DC lens. It also boasts a 10.1-megapixel high resolution CCD for its image sensor and Venus Engine III for the image processing LSI, making it possible to record an image at a maximum ISO 1600 high sensitivity setting at full resolution. Furthermore, by dramatically reducing noise levels, the DMC-FZ50 is able to capture 10.1-megapixel full resolution images even in high sensitivity recordings.

Panasonic is synonymous with clear, stable picture taking, and incorporates MEGA Optical Image Stabilization into all of its digital cameras. The worldwide debut of the revolutionary new Intelligent ISO Control (IIC) feature on Panasonic??’s LUMIX cameras signals the arrival of a new level of photographic excellence. IIC allows high sensitivity recording at full resolution (1250 ISO maximum) made possible by the advanced image processing LSI Venus Engine III. When set to the IIC, the Venus Engine III detects the subject’s movement and adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and the light condition automatically. Panasonic’s intelligent image stabilizing system allows users to take clear, crisp images in just about any situation.

Among the enhancements from its predecessor, the DMC-FZ50 is equipped with a new Function Button which serves as a shortcut to quickly set frequently-used settings such as recording image size, light metering, AF area, white balance, and ISO sensitivity. A newly incorporated custom setting function memorizes the user’s frequent setting patterns so they can be instantly applied by simply selecting this function with the mode dial. The FZ50 also has a 2-inch LCD which flips out to 180 degrees, making it easier to view even when shooting from high or low angles.

The DMC-FZ50 is now compatible with TTL external flashes creating greater flexibility for shooting in a wider range of conditions. The long battery life will allow the user to shoot approximately 360 images on one charge* (CIPA), yet another way the FZ50 stakes its claim to a premium spot in the digital camera market.

The price of the Panasonic DMC-FZ50 will be about $649.95, it will begin shipping in September.
