If you haven’t found an interesting and really fun game to play lately, you should definitely check Spore. The whole idea behind Spore is a like something similar to the one in Civilization – you take the role of some people and start living throughout the years improving yourself. The difference is that Spore secures you the role of a god that is guiding the evolution of a species right form a single cellular organism, that starts it’s life in the water, then evolves and goes to the surface, becomes intelligent, starts to wage wars and then even goes exploring the space. And you have the full control all the time, changing the appearance and abilities of your own creation while it develops into an intelligent creature, that not necessarily have to look like a humanoid, let alone be like a human being.

You start the game in the primordial ooze, where you can create your own single-cellular character designing its DNA, a creature that will constantly grow, survive, and mate as it evolves into a fully-formed member of an establishing species. And as more and more of your creatures inhabit the world, and as evolution forms the future, your species will start joining herds, clans, even create their own civilizations. The more advanced the creatures of the planet grow, the more complex the strife of survival becomes and it all depends on how you pull the right strings. If you are doing well enough you may be able to reach the stars and star exploring and inhabiting the universe, not only just one planet. But if you are not that good your own creations may just have a very short life and you’ll have to start again from the beginning, making them better and more suitable for survival. After all the nature did learn from it’s mistakes, adapting and evolving according to the changes in the environment and the improvement of different animal species, until we, the humans got better control over our own lives…

OdoPlus is a freeware program that allows you to track the distance your mouse pointer travels on the screen (not the actual distance you moved the mouse!). It also helps you keep a record of how often you clicked each mouse button (left, right, center) and in which part of the screen you click the most. Did you know that the remote control (WiiMote or WiiRemote) of Nintendo Wii console can easily be connected to your PC thanks to the bluetooth interface it uses to communicate with the console? Wait, but there is more, not only you can connect the remote to the PC, but you can as well control the computer with the WiiMote. With the help of the WiinRemote program (free and even with the source code available) you can configure the remote to be used in any way you like, not only for moving the mouse cursor, but using every available button on the remote for different functions. The good thing is that you can use either the accelerometers built in the Wii remote to move the mouse cursor (less accurate) or the infrared camera for more accurate control (you’ll need a sensor bar for this). WiinRemote is a great application to start using the WiiMote on your PC, but for more advanced flexibility you shouldn’t rely on this program, but try something like GlovePIE for instance. The GlovePIE uses a simple scripting system that is easy to learn and gives you quite a lot of power in handling the way the Wii-mote is being used…

Cascades is an official DirectX 10 demo by Nvidia showing off the capabilities of the new GeForce 8800 series video cards that come with full DirectX 10 hardware support (the first graphic cards to offer that). In order to run it you’ll need a GeForce 8800 GTX/GTS videocards with the latest Forceware drivers running on Windows Vista OS.

- Procedural Geometry Creation: Rock structures are not only rendered, but also constructed by the GeForce 8800. This permits the user to move up or down forever, with the GPU continuously streaming out colossal chunks of rock in a wide variety of random shapes.
- Dynamic Particle Physics: The GeForce 8800’s geometry shaders perform all the physics calculations for the water, allowing the waterfalls to collide with the rock surface and to form rivers flowing around the features of the rock. Water particles are generated, propagated, and retired on the GPU, leaving the CPU free to perform other tasks.
- Displacement Mapping: Improved displacement mapping techniques use a simple height map in a complex pixel shader to display detailed cracks and bumps that are able to occlude each other, resulting in an extremely high level of realism on the rock surface.

iAlertU is the first of its kind alarm system for your Apple MacBook computer, it is very similar to a traditional car alarm, but for your Mac. iAlertU uses the built in sudden motion sensor (SMS) device to detect movement of your MacBook and triggers an audible and visual alarm.

The alarm can also be triggered by keyboard and mouse/trackpad movement. It is designed to continue sounding even after the MacBook screen has been closed. iAlertU is activated and deactivated using the infrared remote control inlcluded with every MacBook computer. User adjustable settings let you decide which type of alarm triggers you would like to use, the duration of the alarm, and motion sensor sensitivity.

iAlertU also features functionality to utilize the built in iSight camera to photograph the would be thief and soon will be able to email the photo to a user specified email address. Although an active Internet connection would be needed for that functionality…

This free tool helps you to close all running applications with one click. It does not use system resources because it only sends close signal to all open windows on the desktop and goes out. Just place a shortcut to it in the Start Menu, Quick Launch or somewhere.

You can always add hotkey to this shortcut. It is really very handy if you are running ~20 applications and want to quit them all. It works like as you press the close button of each application.
