Sarah Palin or actually Sarah Louise Heath Palin, does that name ring any bells for you? That is the current (11th) governor of Alaska and she is the first woman to hold the office, but you probably didn’t know that. Just a few days ago you probably had no idea who the Governor of Alaska was, unless maybe if you live in that state. But now she’s the most famous woman in the land, because she is running for Vice President and that cannot be left unnoticed… and now you can even get some action figures with Sarah Palin’s look. That’s one thing you must love about America – One week you can be a virtual nobody and the next week, you can be turned into an action figure…

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Nintendo Wii

Posted by Anton on September 14th, 2008

Finally the Star Wars saga continues in the new videogame Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, developed by LucasArtsIn it you’ll be casted as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” code-named “Starkiller”, but born as Galen Marek. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope movies. In it, you are going to assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi – and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny, as you hut down the remaining Jedi after Emperor Palpatine orders them killed.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force. But the Wii version will not only give you a solid story-line involving the Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, but you’ll also experience a new style of gameplay only the Nintendo Wii can offer. With the Wiimote and Nunchuck you’ll be able to battle your way through your enemies utilizing your Lightsaber attacks and Force powers in a way you never thought will be possible. Not only can you experience this new control system in story mode, but you can also try your Jedi skills against a friend in the special “Battle Mode” available only in the Wii version of the game. Joining the Dark Side doesn’t seem like such a bad idea after all now, does it?

Now you probably can’t wait to get your hands on the lightsaber errr… I mean the Wii-mote and start wreaking havoc being one from the dark side of the force… I’m not sure about you, but I can’t wait…

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game for Nintendo Wii is available for $46.99.

TrekStor Wireless SoundBox Speakers

Posted by Anton on September 5th, 2008

The German company TrekStor showed of quite an interesting product at IFA, we are talking about an upgradeable wireless sound system called the Wireless SoundBox. The system is using a small audio transmitter in the form of a USB stick that transfers your favorite digital music noise-free (using 2,4 GHz radio frequency) from the PC to the Wireless SoundBox’s loudspeakers. The transmitter and the loudspeakers can be up to 25 meters apart, meaning you can place the speakers in any room at home or in the office. The compact stereo loudspeakers also have individual volume control, power button and a line-in connection for MP3 players or other audio sources for direct connection to the speaker. The Wireless SoundBox is powered by 4 batteries (when in wireless mode) which can last for up to 12 hours of music playback, and you can always switch the speakers to be powered by USB connection, although you’ll still need to use cables for that. It would have been a nice idea to include rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that could be charged by plugging the speaker to a USB connector, but maybe that will be available in the next version.

The speakers come with a very attractive look and compact size, providing up to a 0.5W each and weighting about 140 grams each (without the four batteries), which should be more than enough to provide you with good and loud enough sound for home or small office use. The good thing is that after you get the starter kit, which consists of a speaker and the transmitter you can add up to 20 speakers later on using the same USB transmitter to provide them with a signal, so the sound system remains quite open and upgradable.

The Wireless SoundBox Starter Set, including a transmitter and a loudspeaker box, is available for about $70. Every additional loudspeaker will cost you additional $45. The Wireless SoundBox is expected to be available for sale in the next month (October).
